RESUME Au Bénin, les animaux domestiques continuent de payer un lourd tribut à diverses pathologies. Une enquête a été conduite au Nord-Bénin pour recenser les recettes à usages vétérinaires, sélectionner les plus crédibles et évaluer la vulnérabilité des plantes impliquées. Elle a consisté à des interviews individuelles semistructurées auprès de 60 éleveurs. Au total 56 espèces végétales ont été citées. Elles sont reparties en 50 genres et 22 familles. Les familles les plus représentées en espèces sont : Leguminosae (34%) et Combretaceae (11%). Au total 86 recettes ont été recensées pour traiter 31 pathologies avec la Fièvre aphteuse comme la plus fréquente (19%). Les fréquences de recettes (Fr) et de citation des recettes (Fcr) ont permis de sélectionner celles qui sont plus crédibles. Les écorces de tige sont plus citées avec un pourcentage de 61%. Huit (08) modes de préparation sont indiqués avec la décoction (49%) comme la plus fréquente. Trente et un (31) espèces se sont révélées vulnérables. Cette étude a permis la sélection de quelques recettes crédibles. Les recherches phytochimiques ultérieures montreront les potentialités réelles des plantes citées dans le traitement des pathologies animales.
La commercialisation et l'utilisation des essences médicinales constituent des pratiques très courantes en Afrique et en particulier au Bénin. Une enquête a été effectuée chez une seule vendeuse disposant de trois différents étalages. L'inventaire minutieux et détaillé des trois étals a duré 30 jours. Un total de 205 espèces végétales groupées en 181 genres et 74 familles ont été recensées. Les familles les plus représentées en termes de richesse spécifique sont : Leguminosae (15%), Rubiaceae (7%) et Euphorbiaceae (7%). Ces espèces sont utilisées dans la formulation de 41 recettes pour traiter 37 maladies et symptômes. Le spectre biologique montre une nette prédominance des phanérophytes (68%). L'analyse biogéographique montre une dominance des espèces guinéo-congolaises (29%), pantropicales (29%) et afrotropicales (10%). Les tiges feuillées (67%) et racines (15%) constituent les organes les plus prisés. La décoction (86%) et le savon (12%) sont les formes pharmaceutiques fréquemment enregistrées. Les maladies et symptômes les plus fréquemment cités par les acheteurs sont : paludisme, diarrhée, stérilité, troubles menstruels, ictère, infections. Au nombre des plantes les plus vendues et rares, on peut citer : Khaya senegalensis, Monodora myristica, Xylopia aethiopica, Tetrapleura tetraptera, Acridocarpus smeathmannii et Entada gigas. La vente des plantes médicinales constitue non seulement une activité génératrice de revenu, mais contribue aussi aux soins de santé primaire, à la vulgarisation et la pérennisation du savoir endogène associé à l'utilisation des plantes médicinales.
La présente étude a évalué l'influence du type d'habitats sur la diversité et la structure des communautés des chiroptères dans les forêts de Niaouli et de Lokoli situées au Sud du Bénin. L'inventaire floristique est réalisé avec la méthode de Braun-Blanquet et celui des chiroptères est fait au filet japonais. Ces deux formations forestières ont montré une dissemblance sur le plan floristique avec une dissimilarité de 0,89 et au niveau des communautés de chiroptères qui y sont inféodées avec une dissimilarité de 0,61. Une DCA a aussi montré que les deux formations forestières constituent deux écosystèmes différents de même que les communautés des chiroptères associées. La majorité des espèces de chiroptères recensées dans ces deux forêts sont des espèces dépendantes des forêts denses humides. Mimetellus moloneyi (Thomas 1891), Hipposideros fuliginosus (Temminck 1853) et Hipposideros tephrus (Cabrera 1906) rapportées sont nouvelles pour le Bénin. Les espèces communes aux deux écosystèmes sont caractéristiques des milieux dégradés. La présence des trois nouvelles espèces de chiroptère dans ces forêts de Niaouli et de Lokoli montre qu'elles constituent deux îlots de forêts denses humides dans cette région du pays et doivent être conservés pour les générations actuelles et futures.
Une prospection itinérante a été faite de 1996 à 2010 en zones guinéenne et soudano-guinéenne au Bénin en vue d'inventorier les différentes espèces de Loranthaceae et leurs hôtes. Les inventaires ont été réalisés le long de quelques routes et des sentiers dans les 45 communes des deux zones phytogéographiques. Au total, 4 genres (Agelanthus, Globimetula, Phragmanthera, Tapinanthus) et 10 espèces (Agelanthus brunneus, A. dodoneifolius, Globimetula braunii, G. cupulata, Phragmanthera capitata, P. nigritana, Tapinanthus bangwensis, T. belvisii, T. globiferus et T. sessilifolius). Parmi ces espèces, deux sont nouvelles pour la flore du Bénin, à savoir : Globimetula cupulata et Tapinanthus belvisii. La diversité taxonomique des hôtes est de 105 espèces réparties dans 85 genres, 33 familles et une seule classe qui est celle des Dicotylédones. Les familles les plus riches en espèces parasitées sont les Leguminosae (23,8%), les Euphorbiaceae (8,6%) et les Moraceae (7,6%). Parmi les espèces hôtes, 36,2% sont des bois d'oeuvre et de service, 49% sont médicinales et 20% sont à la fois médicinales et alimentaires.
