Entrepreneurship currently is seen worldwide or globally as an efficient and effective vehicle for socio-economic growth and sustainable development. Most governments have it as a core part of their programme of governance and also committed considerable amount of resources to it, as a result of high rate of unemployment with the object of encouraging graduates after school to establish themselves and become their own bosses, instead of seeking to be employed which is non-existent. The current study seeks to analyse barriers to start-up business among graphic design graduates, Takoradi Polytechnic. The study employed survey and descriptive research method in executing the study. Data analysed in the paper revealed that; a considerable number of graphic design graduates from takoradi polytechnic were not employed after six years of graduation, majority had nursed the intention of establishing their own business ventures, the graduates preferred sole proprietorship and printing as their choice of form and type of business to pursue, they also had a great deal of knowledge on entrepreneurial agencies and support services but were ignorant of what they had to offer new and existing entrepreneurs and finally, lack of government support and funding were the significant barriers graphic design students come face to face with in the bid to establish themselves.
The fourth republican constitution came into force in 1993. Ghana statistical Service also re-based Ghanas GDP in the same year. From 1993 to 2005, the average GDP growth rate was about 4.3%. Within the period of 1993 and 2005, Ghana was still below the lower middle income level. Another re-basing took place in 2006. It is now believed that we are in the lower middle income level. The study was conducted to develop mathematical models to predict the trend of Ghanas GDP before re-basing and after re-basing in 2006, use the models before and after re-basing to predict the future trend in Ghanas GDP growth, compare our GDP growth before re-basing and after re-basing, to determine whether or not, there are fluctuations in our GDP growth and predict Ghanas per capita income status in 2015. Data on Ghanas GDP were collected from the Statistical Service Department. The GDP figures from 1993-1995 and from 1996-2010 were plotted separately on graphs. A function whose graph best fits each trend was found using regression analysis. It was observed that Ghanas GDP trends before and after re-basing was exponential. There were also no fluctuations in the growth of the economy. Ghana may still be in the lower middle income status by 2015.
Purpose: Ghana has suffered some disasters both natural and manmade. Several natural disasters have occurred from the days of biblical Noah until now. These natural disasters have taken various forms; floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruption tsunamis, tornadoes, landslides, hurricane, and among others. Within the past decades, natural disaster has become a global pandemic which hampers economic and social development. This global phenomenon has affected over 6 million people and cause economic damage of approximately $870,700,000 in Ghana .it is necessary or advisable to ascertain the causes of the natural disasters(floods) in Ghana and the propose an approach that disaster(floods) impacts and save lives and properties. My case study will be in Accra, the capital town of Ghana, which have been employed in my study since it recorded the highest natural disaster like (floods) and how best it can be managed using the statistical approach. Methodology: The study used Desktop literature approach. Findings: The study reveals that natural disasters are a great threat to humanity. Although they occurred long before the first human populated the planet, we likely contribute to an increase in natural disasters through our behavior. The number of natural disasters seems to be positively correlated to an increase in the earth’s temperature. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The study recommended that countries should improve their emergency measures in order to save as many people as possible. They should also work together in order to mitigate the problem of natural disasters and ensure a livable future for future generations
