Considerada a maior bacia sedimentar do interior do Nordeste brasileiro, a bacia do Araripe apresenta uma relevante importância para o estado do Ceará, no que tange às formas de uso e ocupação, que estão diretamente associadas às suas características naturais singulares. Os depósitos sedimentares dessa bacia apresentam um grande potencial de recursos minerais e uma vasta riqueza fossilífera. Dentre as diversas formas de uso e ocupação, destacam-se a agropecuária, o turismo, a mineração e a expansão urbana. Tais formas de uso têm sido responsáveis por vários danos ambientais nessa área com repercussões diretas sobre o equilíbrio da dinâmica natural. Nessa perspectiva, o poder público tem tomado diversas medidas coercitivas tais como a criação de unidades de conservação e o estabelecimento de um complexo sistema de procedimentos de licenciamento ambiental. Apesar de tais medidas, constata-se que tanto as unidades de conservação como os procedimentos de licenciamento ambiental apresentam sérios problemas estruturais, limitando a eficiência da gestão ambiental como um todo. Nessa perspectiva, a presente análise está diretamente focada numa avaliação crítica acerca das medidas públicas adotadas no âmbito da gestão ambiental nas paisagens da bacia do Araripe no estado do Ceará.
O Maciço de Uruburetama, localizado na porção norte do Estado do Ceará, apresenta uma forte relação estrutural com seu modelado, o que se evidencia na exposição de macroformas e microformas graníticas, cuja origem e desenvolvimento estão associadas, predominantemente, ao intemperismo seletivo, tanto em subsuperfície como na superfície topográfica, condicionado pelas características do substrato, seguida da remoção do manto de alteração. Dessa forma, o presente estudo classifica e descreve as diferentes feições geomorfológicas com granito aflorante na área de estudo. A metodologia utilizada teve como base pesquisa bibliográfica referente às teorias de evolução geomorfológica, com ênfase na teoria da etchplanação; revisão bibliográfica sobre a gênese e evolução de relevos graníticos; trabalhos de campo e levantamentos cartográficos. As principais formas de relevos graníticas encontradas podem ser divididas em macroformas associadas ao desenvolvimento de inselbergs e bornhardts, e microformas associadas com blocos graníticos (boulders, caos de blocos, nubbins, tors e castle koppies), com formas de dissolução (tafoni, alvéolos, karren, gnammas e flared slopes) ou de fraturamento (split rock e polygonal cracking). Tais feições exibem grande singularidade geomorfológica e constituem peças fundamentais na compreensão da evolução paleoclimática e geomorfológica regional.
Fragmentos de laterita encontram-se distribuídos na porção setentrional da Província Borborema, constituindo feições residuais de antigo capeamento laterítico, parcialmente dissecado, pelo atual sistema de drenagem, restando apenas alguns testemunhos desconectados. O presente trabalho propõe analisar as diferentes situações nas quais se apresentam as formações lateríticas, permitindo, assim, compreender a gênese dessas formas em função da evolução do contexto geomorfológico regional no qual está inserido, tornando-se referência regional para o estudo do desenvolvimento do modelado. O método empregado para o desenvolvimento deste trabalho consistiu em revisão bibliográfica detalhada sobre condições necessárias para o desenvolvimento de perfis lateríticos, seguido do levantamento de informações geológicas e climáticas, além da interpretação de mapas e trabalhos de reconhecimento de campo. Este permitiu a identificação e análise de perfis lateríticos, possibilitando o entendimento da situação morfológica das formações supergênicas no Maciço do Quincuncá. Atualmente, remanescentes de cobertura laterítica encontram-se no setor setentrional da Bacia do Araripe, sustentando tais feições tabulares no topo de relevos cristalinos. Com base na pesquisa foi proposto modelo de laterização, cujas condições de umidade durante o Paleógeno, superiores às atuais, favoreceram a evolução de perfis de laterita in situ em parte da Província Borborema. A presença da laterita teria favorecido a manutenção de a manutenção de platôs tabulares em torno de 700 m. A progressiva aridificação do clima regional no Neógeno seria responsável pela fragmentação do capeamento laterítico.
Resumo: O conhecimento do quadro natural da Serra do Quincuncá, localizada no semiárido brasileiro, foi desenvolvido com a preocupação de contribuir no entendimento da sua compartimentação geomorfológica. No entanto, o caráter integrativo da pesquisa geomorfológica fornece importantes subsídios ao conhecimento da realidade espacial, contribuindo no planejamento ambiental no sentido de encontrar alternativas para melhorar a qualidade de vida das populações locais. O mapeamento das unidades geomorfológicas foi realizado com base em fotointerpretações da textura e rugosidade de conjuntos de formas de relevo que estão associados às principais estruturas geológicas regionais a partir de diversos sensores remotos, imagens do satélite SPOT5 e Modelo Digital de Elevação (MDE). A caracterização do quadro natural foi elaborada a partir de trabalhos de campo entre 2014 e 2016, e interpretação de cartas temáticas em escalas diversas. Foram identificadas duas unidades morfoestruturais (superfícies elevadas e rebaixadas), sendo individualizadas em superfícies morfoesculturais distintas (superfícies de erosão dissecadas em cristas e colinas, superfície aplainada, superfícies tabulares sustentadas por lateritas e superfícies de deposição recente), todas estas esculpidas sob diferentes agentes modeladores exógenos.
