The success of electronic procurement (e-procurement) in the private sector has been a driving force for governments to seek cost reductions and administration efficiencies by adopting this method on a wide scale. However, the enthusiastic reaction to e-procurement in richer developing countries, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has never been measured by critical evaluation, and this paper makes a first attempt in this respect. In doing so, it evaluates and investigates the case of the UAE e-government procurement in relation to organisational issues. This examination is then followed by an exploration of best practice in this field.
