Drug addiction has long been haunting Malaysians which has ravaged the communities, especially Malays who are the majority of the population of the country. This threat is not only a big problem for the country, but it also brings losses from the aspect of human capital as a state asset. As such, there is a number of private drug treatment and rehabilitation centers that use Islamic management as the foundation. The study aims to introduce and compare the management of two private drug treatment centers, which are the Baitul Taubah, Kelantan, Malaysia and the Anharul-U-Loom pondok institution, Krabi, South Thailand. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach where researchers conducted visits to both drug treatment centers. The qualitative approaches include formal and informal interviews, and observations that are carried out during the visits to the treatment centers. Results show that Islamic management has been practiced in both drug treatment centers. The effectiveness of Islamic management can be seen when former drug addicts reserve their respective treatment centers. Thus the good effect of Psycho Spiritual Therapy is supposed to be promoted as an exemplary management in the field of drug treatment management. Contribution/ Originality: This study contributes in the existing literature on Islamic management model, particularly, by using psycho spiritual therapy. The articles on Islamic management by using spiritual element in drug rehabilitation centres as the mainstay is very limited.
Through diversity in technology nowadays, innovation in teaching and learning has been adapted to the subject of Thematic Exegesis among students in higher learning institutions including new pedagogy approaches such as language use, teaching style changes, technological developments and so on. This article will study the thematic approach by highlighting the particular theme handled by the Qur'an in teaching and learning Thematic Exegesis subject in the Faculty of Quran and Sunnah Studies (FPQS). Secondly, this study will explore the innovations that have been introduced and applied throughout the teaching and learning process of the subject among students of Quran and Sunnah Studies (QS) and Quran with Multimedia (QM) at the FPQS, USIM. This article uses qualitative methods through observation and documentation. The study found that: (a) there are five types of innovation in the teaching and learning of thematic exegesis subject among students; acting, wayang kulit (shadow puppets) or animation, multimedia presentations, music and lyric, and, choral speaking, (b) students have shown an improvement in innovative approaches in learning the subject of thematic exegesis especially in communication and technology. ABSTRAK Melalui kepelbagaian dalam teknologi pada masa kini, inovasi dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran telah disesuaikan dengan subjek Tafsir Maudu’i di kalangan pelajar di institusi pengajian tinggi termasuk pendekatan pedagogi baharu seperti penggunaan bahasa, perubahan gaya pengajaran, perkembangan teknologi dan sebagainya. Artikel ini akan mengkaji pendekatan tematik (Tafsir Maudu’i) dengan menonjolkan tema tertentu yang ditangani oleh al-Quran dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran subjek Tafsir Maudu’i di Fakulti Pengajian Quran dan Sunnah (FPQS). Kedua, artikel ini akan meneroka inovasi-inovasi yang telah diperkenalkan dan digunapakai sepanjang proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran subjek tersebut di kalangan pelajar pengkhususan Quran dan Sunnah (QS) dan Quran dengan Multimedia (QM) di FPQS, USIM. Artikel ini menggunakan kaedah kualitatif melalui pemerhatian dan dokumentasi. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa: (a) terdapat lima jenis inovasi dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran subek Tafsir Maudu’i di kalangan pelajar; lakonan, wayang kulit atau animasi, multimedia, muzik dan lirik lagu, dan choral speaking, (b) pelajar menunjukkan peningkatan dalam pendekatan baru dalam pembelajaran subjek Tafsir Maudu’i khususnya dalam komunikasi dan teknologi.
The manuscripts have been proof of the existence of knowledgeable civilization society. They disseminated knowledge through writings and each writer can be used until now. Various aspects can be learned from the manuscript including codicological aspects, philological as well as textual studies. This study focuses on Madrasah al-Ahmadiah al-Islamiah located in Narathiwat, Thailand, a madrasah that serves as a center for collecting and restoring manuscripts. Hence, this study is carried out in accordance with two main objectives: 1) to study the background of the Madrasah al-Ahmadiah al-Islamiah as a center for manuscripts’ collection, and 2) to identify the collection of manuscripts and areas of knowledge. This article also discusses the process of collecting manuscripts. A qualitative approach has been conducted in order to collect the data that consists of conducting interviews and analyzing related documents. The findings of this study focus on only 70 copies of Quran manuscripts of various sizes that have been conserved. In addition, the collection of manuscripts other than the Quran can be divided into 15 fields of knowledge. Furthermore, there are 2 forms of the material collected in this center: writing forms and artifacts. The study is expected to provide exposure to the conservation of the Malay Archipelago’s manuscripts as well as uplifting the institutions involved.
Madrasah al-Ahmadiah al-Islamiah is one of the Islamic educational centers founded in Narathiwat, Thailand. This Madrasah was founded by local scholar Haji Ahmad bin Samae. The Madrasah also serves as the center for the collection of Malay and Islamic manuscripts in Southern Thailand. This article is aimed at investigating the background of the institution, and also listing the collection of manuscripts found there. Qualitative method has been used by applying the method of subject determination. Data was obtained from interview as well as books and paperworks that related to this topic. The finding showed that there are 70 manuscripts of Quran with different sizes have been conserved. This study is important in the effort to preserve and uplift the institution as well as increase academic mobility in maintaining and studying manuscripts of Malay’s Archipelago. ABSTRAK Madrasah al-Ahmadiah al-Islamiah adalah salah sebuah pusat pendidikan Islam yang diasaskan di Narathiwat, Thailand. Madrasah ini telah diasaskan oleh ilmuwan tempatan bernama Haji Ahmad bin Samae. Madrasah ini turut berperanan sebagai pusat pengumpulan manuskrip Melayu dan Islam di Selatan Thailand. Artikel ini bertujuan menyelidik latarbelakang institusi dan juga menyenaraikan koleksi manuskrip yang terdapat di situ. Metode kualitatif telah digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data kajian. Data telah dikumpulkan melalui temubual serta kajian kepustakaan yang berkaitan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa terdapat 70 naskhah manuskrip Quran pelbagai saiz yang telah dipulihara. Kajian ini adalah penting dalam usaha memelihara, memartabatkan institusi tersebut serta dapat meningkatkan mobiliti akademik dalam pemuliharaan dan pengkajian khazanah manuskrip Nusantara.
