After the death of the Prophet (pbuh), there were some problems with the interpretation and interpretation of the Qur'an, and the Companions (r.a.) did not hesitate to work hard to solve the problems. Among these employees, despite his young age, Abdullah b. Abbas is coming. Ibn Abbas's command of the Arabic language and his explanations about the Qur'an are mentioned in many sources, and his views are always included in the books of the later commentators. In the study, first of all, Ibn Abbas's life, personality, scientific life, political situation, teachers, scientific personality, students and course method were discussed, and then the concept of "philology" and "philological exegesis" was examined. Afterwards, it has been examined with examples related to the interpretations and interpretations of Ibn Abbas about the verses of the Qur'an. Ibn Abbas, who commented on the Qur'an with the method of narration and wisdom and is known as the founder of lexical tafsir according to general acceptance, is also the first to use poetry in the interpretation of strange words in the Qur'an, using the ignorant poetry as evidence in the interpretation of the Qur'an curriculum. seen as an interpreter. Ibn Abbas, who made tafsir with the method of narration and wisdom and is considered the most important source in this field, used different methods related to tafsir sources. He sometimes explained the incomprehensible words in any verse of the Qur'an with another verse, and sometimes came to a solution with the help of a hadith on the subject. Related to our subject, "Three Works on Ali Bulut's Philology of the Qur'an Attributed to Ibn Abbas", "Ismail Aydın's Ibn Abbas: The Pioneer of Philological Interpretation”, “Ibn Abbas (68/687) and Qur'an Interpretations by Saida Saipova” and “The Development of Linguistic Interpretation of Mehmet Ali Durur and the Effect of Ibn Abbas on Linguistic Interpretation” There are article studies. The aim of the study is to contribute to the field of both Tafsir and Arabic Language and Rhetoric by revealing the position and importance of Ibn Abbas in philological exegesis in the light of examples from Ibn Abbas's exegetical sources.
