Interest and demand for food and plants that are healthy, delicious, grown in an unpolluted environment, and preserving their naturalness and wildness, are constantly increasing (Ercisli, 2007). These fruits are known to be rich in bioactive components and minerals (Scheerens, 2001). Two of the demanded wild fruits are Berberis vulgaris L. and Berberis crataegina DC. (called Kızamık and Karamuk in Turkey). B. vulgaris L. and B. crataegina DC. belong to the Berberidaceae family. They are dwarf and shrub-shaped trees of 1-3 m in length and are commonly grown in Asia and Europe.
