Background: Background: The direction of coaching is emphasized as a factor affecting the physical conditions of pencak silat martial arts athletes in all categories. One of the physical exercises that affects body composition is aerobic activity. Objective: This study aimed to examine the effects of aerobic interval (AI) training performed for five weeks on the body mass index (BMI), basal heart rate, and the VO2max of elite athletes. Methods: The study used an experimental design involving total sampling. Thirty national-level pencak silat elite athletes (17 men and 13 women) were involved in this study. Of the participants, 23 had a normal BMI of 18.5 – 24.9 kg/m2, and 7 had a BMI above 25 kg/m2 (overweight). Their average age was 23.67 + 4.10 years with an average height of 166.03 + 7.15) cm and average initial weight of 64.84 + 12.65 kg. They were in the preparation phase of their training. This experimental research used a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The Mi Xiaomi Body Scale 2 was used for bioimpedance analysis (BIA), and body composition (body weight, BMI, body fat percentage, bone mass, protein percentage, total water body percentage, visceral fat, body age, muscle mass, and basal metabolic rate [BMR]) and VO2max measurements were acquired using a multistage fitness test (MFT). The athletes lived in a dormitory where the food, type of training and exercise, and sleeping time were controlled to the exact condition. The AI training lasted 67–77 minutes per session, twice a week for five weeks, with vigorous intensity at 80–85% of the maximal heart rate, 5 minutes per interval, and 1 minute of rest between each interval. Results: The weight, BMI, body fat percentage, basal heart rate, and VO2max showed significant differences (p 0.05) after five weeks of AI training. However, AI training did not significantly alter muscle mass, percentage of water, percentage of protein, bone mineral density, or biological age. Conclusion: AI training performed for five weeks improved VO2max and decreased basal heart rate, body weight, and fat percentage.

ABSTRAK Kegiatan Outdoor Based Character Building (OBCB) merupakan kegiatan kemahasiswaan yang rutin dilaksnakan di Fakultas Ilmu Olahraga Universitas Negeri Jakarta (FIO UNJ). Kegiatan OBCB diharapkan memberikan dampak positif pada sikap disiplin dan tanggung jawab mahasiwa sehingga juga diharapkan akan berdampak pada prestasi belajar, dalam hal ini indeks prestasi akumulatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi sikap disiplin dan bertanggung jawab terhadap indeks prestasi mahasiswa yang mengikuti kegiatan OBCB tahun 2016. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode survey dengan Teknik Analisa data uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji korelasi. Teknik populasi dan sampel menggunakan Teknik simple random sampling dari 300 populasi didapat 37 mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Olahraga UNJ peserta OBCB tahun 2016. Simpulan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara sikap disiplin dengan indeks prestasi akumulatif mahasiswa peserta OBCB 2016, terdapat hubungan antara sikap tanggung jawab dengan indeks prestasi akumulatif mahasiswa peserta OBCB 2016 dan terdapat hubungan antara sika disiplin dan sikap tanggung jawab secara bersama dengan indeks prestasi akumulatif mahasiswa peserta OBCB 2016. OBCB activities are expected to have a positive impact on the attitude of discipline and student responsibility so that it is also expected to have an impact on learning achievement, in this case the accumulative achievement index. This study aims to determine the correlation of disciplined and responsible attitudes towards the student achievement index who participated in the 2016 OBCB activities. The method used was a survey method with data analysis techniques of normality test, homogeneity test, correlation test. Population and sample techniques using simple random sampling technique from 300 populations obtained 37 students of the Faculty of Sport UNJ OBCB participants in 2016. The conclusions of the study show that there is a relationship between discipline attitudes and the accumulative achievement index of OBCB 2016 participating students, there is a relationship between attitude of responsibility and achievement index accumulation of 2016 OBCB participant students and there is a relationship between discipline discipline and joint responsibility attitude with the accumulation achievement index of OBCB 2016 participating students Keywords: Discipline, Responsibility, Cumulative Achievement Index

Athlete’s knowledge level (IQ) is needed to increase smash technique learning skill in sepak takraw. Besides, physical conditions which consist of power, flexibility and coordination, are also determined athlete’s accomplishment in learning smash technique in sepak takraw.  The study purpose. The aim of this research was to discover the direct influence between knowledge level (IQ) and physical conditions (power, flexibility and coordination) on smash technique learning skill in sepak takraw.  Materials and Methods. The method used in this research was quantitative. Path analysis was conducted to analyze the result. As many as 50 athletes of sepak takraw from capital city of Jakarta were taken as population. Those athletes were also taken as sample by using total sampling. The sample was the athletes who joined the regional and national championship.  Results. Based on the research it was obtained: 1) knowledge level (IQ) affects smash technique learning skill in sepak takraw directly as many as 0.982; 2) physical conditions (power, flexibility and coordination) affect smash technique learning skill in sepak takraw directly as many as 0.845; and 3) overall, knowledge level (IQ) and physical condition (power, flexibility and coordination) affect smash technique learning skill in sepak takraw directly as many as 0.703.  Conclusion. Therefore, it could be concluded that knowledge level (IQ) and physical conditions (power, flexibility and coordination) affect smash technique learning skill in sepak takraw on the athletes of capital city of Jakarta.

ABSTRAK   Kejuaraan Renang Pelajar Bulanan Provinsi DKI Jakarta merupakan program pemasalan olahraga renang bagi pelajar tingkat Sekolah Dasar dan Sekolah Menengah Pertama di Provinsi DKI Jakarta. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui antropometri peserta yang menjadi juara dalam setiap bulan pelaksanaannya. Metode yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes dan pengukuran indeks masa tubuh peserta yang hasilnya diklasifikasikan ke dalam norma yang ditentukan dalam mengukur indeks masa tubuh. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa rata-rata indeks masa tubuh atlet putra dan putri peserta Kejuaraan Renang Pelajar Provinsi DKI Jakarta dalam kategori normal. Hasil tersebut memberikan gambaran kepada pelatih untuk meningkatkan program latihan sehingga dapat mencapai hasil yang maksimal dalam rangka peningkatan atlet ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi.   Kata Kunci : Indeks Masa Tubuh, Atlet Renang, Antropometri   ABSTRACT   The DKI Jakarta Province Monthly Student Swimming Championship is a swimming sports program for elementary and junior high school students in DKI Jakarta Province. This study aims to determine the anthropometry of participants who won each month of its implementation. The method used is a test and measurement of the body mass index of participants whose results are classified into the norms determined in measuring the body mass index. The results of this study indicate that the average body mass index of male and female athletes participating in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Student Swimming Championship is in the normal category. These results provide an overview for the coach to improve the training program so that it can achieve maximum results in order to increase athletes to a higher level.   Keywords: Body Mass Index, Swimming Athletes, Anthropometry

Introduction. in the process of improving an athlete's performance, the recovery methods must be optimized. Recovery is required to maximize training and competition performance; fatigue should be minimized by recovering as fast as possible. This study aimed to assess effects of contrast water therapy on blood lactate concentration after high-intensity interval training (HiiT) in elite futsal players. Methods. A total of 30 male futsal athletes volunteered to be subjects in this study. The test session consisted of repeated sprints at the distance of 25 m (3 series of two 1-min repetitions at 90% of maximum heart rate). After HiiT, the participants were randomized into 2 groups; 15 received contrast water therapy (CWT), and 15 were given slow jogging recovery (SJR). The recovery for the CWT group consisted of periodic immersions in cold water (18°C) for 1 min and then in hot water (37°C) for 2 min, with accumulating 15 min in the water. The recovery for the SJR group included 8 min of slow jogging (6.8 km • h −1) around a field. Results. After 30-min recovery, lactate concentration was significantly greater (p = 0.001) in the SJR group (7.67 mmol/l) than in the CWT group (6.82 mmol/l) and remained significantly different 60 min after recovery (p = 0.0001; 6.80 mmol/l and 5.01 mmol/l, respectively). Conclusions. We demonstrated that CWT after HiiT had an effect on the recovery of elite futsal players by decreasing the lactate concentration and rapid recovery of heart rate.
