Synopsis
The differential fivefold cross section for the double ionization of argon by electron impact is calculated taking into account the variations of the effective charges describing each ejected electron during the reaction; the energy of the electron projectile is fixed in the intermediate range, and the ejected electrons have low energies. The initial state is described by the Clementi wavefunction, and the ejected electrons in the final state by Coulomb waves. A comparison is made with the measurements of Jia et al [1].
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
