ObjectivesTo compare odds for the most common precise-level disorders and disorder groups between lop-eared and erect-eared rabbits
MethodsDemographic and disorder data were extracted from a random sample of 3,933 rabbits from a study population of 162,045 UK rabbits under veterinary care in VetCompass during 2019. Odds for common disorders were compared between lop-eared rabbits versus erect-eared rabbits using multivariable logistic regression analysis.
ResultsProbability of diagnosis with at least one disorder were similar between lop-eared (827/1165, 70.99%) and erect-eared rabbits (635/889, 71.42%).Lop-eared rabbits had significantly increased odds of 4/23 (17.39%) common precise-level disorders and 2/23 (8.70%) common grouplevel disorders versus erect-eared rabbits. Lop-eared rabbits had significantly reduced odds of 1/23 (4.35%) common precise-level disorders and 0/23 group-level disorders.Precise-level predispositions in lop-eared rabbits were nasal discharge [odds ratio (
