Results of studying nanocrystalline nc-Si/SiO_2 quantum dots (QDs) functionalized by short oligonucleotides show that complexes of isolated crystalline semiconductor QDs are unique objects for detecting the manifestation of new quantum confinement phenomena. It is established that narrow lines observed in high-resolution spectra of inelastic light scattering can be used for determining the characteristic time scale of vibrational excitations of separate nucleotide molecules and for studying structural-dynamic properties of fast oscillatory processes in biomacromolecules.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
