To compare the two strategies, MLSE and turbo equalisation are investigated both with outer FEC coding and an overall code rate of R=0.9. For MLSE equalisation a standard outer code, e.g. ReedSolomon (RS) code, of rate RRS is used. For turbo equalisation the code rate is partitioned into a convolutional code of rate RTE and an outer code of rate RRS with RTE⋅RRS=0.9. In addition to the performance results derived by Monte-Carlo simulations, high-speed implementation effort in terms of gate count estimation is considered.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
