A summary is given for studies on methanol reforming yielding hydrogen on structured Cu-ZnO-M x O y /Al 2 O 3 /corderite catalysts (M = Ce, La, Ni, and Mg). Modifying additives of ceria, lanthanum and nickel oxides were found to affect the decomposition of methanol, while magnesium oxide and the methanol/water ratio alter the results in the steam and oxy-steam reforming of methanol. The roles of the components of the Cu-ZnO compositions, probable intermediates, and pathways for hydrogen formation were analyzed. Recommendations were formulated for improving methanol reforming catalysts.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
