Methods: Data analysis of 870 men investigation with AH revealed under epidemiological surveys of the unorganized urban population aged 40-64.Results: High prevalence of TS among men with AH was estublished -32,9%. High frequency of TS combines with its expressed intensity: every second smoke out (49,6%) 20 and more cigarettes per day, 37,9 % -from 10 to 19 and only 12,5 % -less than 10. The mean number of cigarettes on one smoker with AH makes (16,4 AE 0,5), and mean duration of smoking -(33,5 AE 0,6). Two thirds of smokers (67,5%) have high degree of nicotine dependence and necessity in medicare in the smoke cessation. They know that TS makes worse the prognosis of disease and increases the risk of development of cardiovascular complications only 7,8 %, more 28,9% informed about the general consequences of TS for health. Only a fourth (24,6%) of patients had an advice from a doctor about the necessity of smoking cessation. In spite of meaningful part of persons with the high degree of nicotine dependence -none of them was appointed nicotine replacement therapy or controlled implementation of recommendations on smoke cessation. Most of questioned persons expressed desire to give up smoking, every second expressed a doubt in ability to do it independent and only 15,4% accepted assertion, that a district doctor can help. Conclusion: Without development and introduction of long duration teaching programs of doctors and/or medical students on the prophylaxis and tobacco dependence treatment, active and valuable participation in the smoke cessation, it is hard to count on the substantial decline of cardiovascular complications risk at patients with AH in Ukraine.
