Die in der folgenden fibersicht zusammengestellten Isonitrosoacetanilide haben wir dargestellt, um sie suf ihre Verwendbarkeit als Trubungsindikatoren2) zu priifen. Von den 12 Verbindungen, Isomeren und Homologen des Isonitroso-acetyl-amino-azobenzols, sind die drei ersten schon vor einiger Zeit von P. Karrer, G. a. Diechmann und W. l'. HaebZer3) dargestellt und von C. Naegeli als Triibungs-Indikatoren gepriift worden; wir haben sie aber trotzdem noch einmal aufgenommen, weil die formelmiissige Wiedergabe und die Bezifferung der ganzen Gruppe von Verbindungen aus Grunden der Platzersparnis auch fiir die Veroffentlichung der physikalischchemischen Untersuchungen dienen soll. In der voranstehenden Arbeitl) haben wir die Einwirkung von Wasser auf aromatische Isocyansaure-ester untersucht und uns insbesondere mit dem weiteren Schicksal der dabei in erster Stufe entstehenden Carbaminsauren beschaftigt. Die Folgerungen der Untersuchung stutzen sich zu einem wesentlichen Teil auf die Kenntnis der Reaktionsfahigkeit kernsubstituierter Phenylisocyanate und kernsubstituierter Arylamine, und Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit war es, jene Kenntnis zu vermitteln.Wir mussten uns aus Slusseren Griinden mit der Bestimmung der unter gleichartigen Bedingungen nach einer bestimmten Zeit entstandenen Mengen an Diarylharnstoff zufrieden geben ; die Erfahrung lehrte dann ubrigens, worauf wir weiter unten (S. [1134][1135][1136][1137] zuruckkommen, dass eine genaue Messung der Geschwindigkeitskonstanten auch sinnlos gewesen ware. Die Ergebnisse der Versuche sind in der Tabelle 1 zusammengefasst; aus ihr ergibt sich, dass sich, bei Abwesenheit von Katalysatoren, die Substituenten bezuglich ihres Einflusses auf die Aktivitat der Isocyansaure-Gruppe in folgende Reihe ordnen: wobei wir das 2-N0, in der Nahe von 3-N02 finden, eine Folge des schon in der voranstehenden Arbeit,) geschilderten OrthoEffektes. Verfolgen wir anderseits den Einfluss der Substituenten auf die Reaktionsfahigkeit der Amine, so finden wir dieselbe Anordnung im umgekehrten Sinne, nur dass jetzt das 2-N02 seinen festen Platz zwischen 2,4-(NO,), und 3,5-(NO2), erhalt, als Folge der Tatsache, dass bei den Aminen eine ,,sterische" Hinderung durch die orthostandige Nitrogruppe dem allgemeinen Einfluss der Gruppe nicht entgegen wirkt, den Unterschied zwischen 2-NO, und 3,5-(N02), hochstens grosser werden laisst (vgl. auch S. 1133).4-OCH, < 4-CH3 < H < 3-OCH3 < 3-NO2 < 4-NOZ < 3,5-(N0,)2 < 2,4-(N0& Der Einfluss von Kernsubstituenten auf das Verhalten von Arylisocyanaten oder Arylisothiocyanaten gegeniiber Aminen ist bisher nicht systematisch untersucht worden. Goehring und Pottebauma) beobachteten, dass das 2-Methyl-phenylisothiocyanat sich langsamer mit Aminen umsetzt als das Phenylsenfol selbst.
