Die Dimerisierung von Radikalkationen des Phenazin‐di‐N‐Oxyds und des Benzo‐[b]‐phenazin‐di‐N‐Oxyds wurde mit Hilfe der Cyclischen Voltammetrie und der Doppelpotentialstufenchronoamperometrie untersucht. Der Mechanismus der Reaktion wird angegeben. Die Geschwindigkeitskonstanten der Dimerisierung betragen für das Phenazin‐di‐N‐Oxyd‐System 0,8 · 104 l/mol sec, für das Benzo‐[b]‐phenazin‐di‐N‐Oxyd‐System 1,1 · 105 l/mol sec.
N‐Oxyde der Diazine können in aprotischen Lösungen anodisch oxydiert werden. An Hand der Ergebnisse elektrochemischer, spektroskopischer und präparativ‐chemischer Experimente an Phenazin‐di‐N‐Oxyd wird ein Mechanismus für die Oxydation vorgeschlagen.
Das Chlorid (I) reagiert mit dem Amidin (II) bei ‐25°C in Methylenchlorid zum Triazaheptadienon (III) (85% Ausbeute), das sich in 48 Std. bei Raumtemperatur zum Triazaheptadienon (IV) (80%) umlagert.
