secondary monoclonal antibodies. This type of measurement is also known as sandwich assay as the analyte is "sandwiched" between two antibodies. The following addition of TMB (Tetramethylbenzidine) was resulting in colour change which intensity was in direct ratio of optical density of the samle and could be read on a spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 650 nm.RESULTS: The following variables were assessed: the mean level of EGF in urine in BPH patients was 14,09 ng/ml (13-32), in urine of men without any pathology and signs of LUTS e 7,86 ng/ml (6,6-9). The mean level of EGF in urine was 80% higher in BPH group in comparison with men without any signs of LUTS due to BPO. We have also found the inverse proportion of Qmean and Qmax and the EGF level in group of BPH patients.CONCLUSIONS: The EGF level in urine could be an important prognostic value in diagnostics and monitoring of patients with LUTS along with standard urodynamic methods and all-known progression risk factors such as age, IPSS, prostate volume, Qmax, PVR and PSA.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
