The results of a X‐ray diffraction study of SmCo5 phase homogeneity region boundaries in cast and sintered alloys is presented. Decreasing the temperature from 1200 to 800 °C the solubility of Sm in SmCo5 phase rises monotonously in the (SmCo5 + Sm2Co7) phase region as well as in the (SmCo5 + Sm2Co17) phase region. The decomposition of the solid solution enriched in Co at a temperature below the homogeneity region boundary results in precipitation of the Sm2Co17 phase having the Th2Zn17 crystal structure. In the present paper the high coercivity (IHc = 20 kOe) is obtained in sintered alloys enriched in Co. The alloys enriched in Sm have a coercive force IHc = 30 kOe. The results allow to conclude that in the high coercive state the alloys enriched in Co have a heterogeneous two‐phase crystal structure.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
