В представленном обзоре обсуждаются проблемы и перспективы ортопедических имплантатов на основе магния (Mg), а также текущее состояние и будущие направления исследований содержащих магний биоматериалов в ортопедии и инженерии костной ткани. Ортопедические имплантаты на основе магния могут быть многообещающими для лечения сложных заболеваний костей, что связано с их оптимальными механическими, остеотропными и антибактериальным свойствами. Магний и материалы на его основе широко изучались для процедур регенерации тканей в силу их уникальной биоразлагаемости. Цель данного обзора состояла в том, чтобы проанализировать и обсудить применение Mg и материалов на его основе в направленной костной регенерации. Ионы магния стимулируют остеогенез, что важно для заживления дефектов костной ткани. Костные имплантаты на его основе обеспечивают стабильную механическую поддержку на ранней стадии имплантации и постепенно деградируют с восстановлением дефекта костной ткани, выполняя свое клиническое назначение в качестве временных устройств фиксации кости или каркасов для инженерии костной ткани. Инновационные стратегии, позволяющие регулировать скорость деградации имплантата в соответствии со скоростью заживления костной ткани, а также гибридные системы имплантов, сочетающие содержащие магний биоматериалы, способствующие регенерации кости, с металлами (титан, сталь), которые обеспечивают прочную фиксацию костных структур в участках скелета с высокой нагрузкой, обсуждаются для устранения ограничений использования биоматериалов на основе магния в целях их клинического применения.
