Abstract:Human factor plays an important role in ensuring lean process management to be successful and provides good proposition for the success of the organization in the long run. One of the main elements of people is their problem solving capability in identifying and eliminating wastages. The purpose of this paper was to review problem solving capabilities in lean process management; and identifying the important factors and needs for lean process management. Beside that the paper also proposed the conceptual framework of people development system which can help organizations to enhance employees' capability in identifying and eliminating wastages continuously and effectively.
Research nationally and internationally found that technical graduates are lacking in employability skills. As employability skills are crucial in outcome-based education, the main goal of this research is to develop an Employability Skill Assessment Tool to help students and lecturers produce competent graduates in employability skills needed by the industry. The employability skill Assessment Tool were developed using the Kepner-Tregoe (K-T) method. Samples were 107 employers from five types of Malaysian manufacturing industries. The findings showed that employers agreed on the importance for all seven of the employability skills; interpersonal skills, thinking skills, personal qualities/values, resource skills, system & technology skills, basic skills and informational skills. These skills were ranked and chosen as items for the Employability skills assessment tool. The tool developed was tested and validated by manufacturing employers and lecturers in institutions. The agreement coefficient was found to be between substantial agreement and almost perfect agreement.
Lean manufacturing is a popular concept practiced in most Japanese and western company to increase their competitiveness. However, only few of them succeed to get good result. To achieve success in implementation of lean manufacturing, company has to make changes. Managerial commitment is important in this investment. Thus, the objective of this paper is to determine the degree of leanness and managerial commitment in companies. All the information of lean manufacturing practice and role of management * . A study was conducted in an aerospace manufacturer in Malaysia. A five-point scale questionnaire has been selected to be the study instrument. These questionnaires were distributed to 45 employees work in kitting department and 8 top management people. The results indicate that the degree of leanness and managerial commitment of the company were moderate.
Today's in manufacturing major challenge is to manage large scale of cybersecurity system, which is potentially exposed to a multitude of threats. The utmost risky threats are insider threats. An insider threat arises when a person authorized to perform certain movements in an organization decides to mishandle the trust and harm the organization. Therefore, to overcome these risks, this study evaluates various risk assessment method to assess the impact of insider threats and analyses the current gaps in risk assessment method. Based on the literature search done manually, we compare four methods which are NIST, FRAP, OCTAVE, and CRAMM. The result of the study shows that the most used by an organization is the NIST method. It is because NIST is a method that combines the involvement between human and system in term of collection data. The significance of this study contributes to developing a new method in analyzing the threats that can be used in any organization.
Lean behavior is an essential element to create a culture of continuous improvement culture in a service organization. Continuous improvement is defined as the never-ending efforts for improvement involving everyone in an organization. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the changes of behavioral practices after the introduction of lean tools and discuss the effects of lean behavior in developing a culture of continuous improvement in an office environment. This study adopted a self-administered questionnaire method to obtain real time data for the analysis of behavioral practices. Ford Questionnaire was used and distributed to employees of different management levels in the Business Development and IT Department. The obtained results were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The same questionnaire survey was distributed after the introduction of lean tools. The expected outcomes of this study were to determine the level of lean behavioral practices in the office department and to provide a clear understanding of some lean behavioral practices that need to be nurtured among the employees in order to produce a healthy work environment.
