To reduce power supply noise such as power bounce and GAD bounce, ferrite beads are usually inserted between power supply and VCC terminal of an IC by trial and error. Analytical approach on noise reduction effect of ferrite beads has not been established yet, referring to the catalog data on ferrite beads. In this paper, noise reduction effect of ferrite beads on electromagnetic interference (EMI) is analytically k u s s e d . Resonance characteristics of a digital circuit with ferrite beads are calculated and noise reduction effects are predicted in this paper. Nearfield EM1 spectra are predicted and are compared with measured results. With respect to peak level of EM1 spectra, predicted results coincide with measured results within the error of 4 dB.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
