Non-relativistic equations of motion
have been solved numerically in order to calculate the focusing
properties of a cylindrical field between concentric cylinders
of radii R1 and R2 with two boundaries along the Z-axis, for
charged particles emitted by a source that is distant from the analyser
and located on the axis of symmetry. It was shown that this system
exhibited second-order focusing. For a point focus and a distant source
a dispersion value was obtained equal on average to 4.6R1.
The effect of variation of parameters on the focusing has been
studied and some regressions for estimating the focusing
characteristics were obtained.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
