Bekanntlich Mben in jfingster Zeit die Erfahrungen der Ira-munit~tslehre und insbesondere die Ergebnisse der Arbeiten E hrlichs auch in der Ophthalmologie eine nutzenbringende und aussichtsvolle Anwendung gefunden. Die Resultate~ zu denen E h r l i e h (1) bei seinen Untersuchungen fiber die Giftwirkung des Ricins und Abrins gelangt war, waren die erste Veranlassung, dass man, wie M. A. Calmette und A. D elarde (3) zusammen mit de Lapersonne zuerst es taten, die Wirkung des Abrins ~m Auge n~her verfolgte. Eine bedeutsame Durchfiihrung hat diese Methode dann in den experimentellen Untersuehungen yon R5mer (4) fiber Abrinimmunitgt gefunden, die zugleich die erste systematische Verwertung der Ehrlichschen Theorie am Auge gewesen sind. Was sich bereits bei diesen Immunisierungsvorggngen deutlich gezeigt hatte: die F~higkeit gewisser Teile des Auges, Anti-kSrper zu produzieren, hat sich aueh weiter, und nicht nur an der Conjunetiva und nicht nur in bezug auf die Toxine bestgtigen lassen. Uberdies bedingt der rege Fltissigkeits-und Stoffweehsel, in dem die Conjunctiva mit dem iibrigen Org~nismns steht, der auf diesem Wege auch die gornhaut seinem Einfluss unterstellt, dass die ImmunkSrper, nieht nur yon den ~usseren Teilen des Auges, bei lokaler Bildung, in das Auge selbst und den grossen Kreislauf gelangen, sondern auch aus diesem: bei Vorg~ngen allgemeiner Immunisierung, dutch das ciliare und conjunctivMe Gef~sssystem Ztttritt zum Auge gewinnen. Die Belege hierfiir sind ebenf~lls yon tRSmer geliefert worden~ der namentlich auch bei seinen Untersuehungen fiber Pneumoeokkenimmunitgt den ~ priori ~nzunehmenden AntikSrperaust~usch im Auge erwiesen hat.
