На моделі алкогольної нейропатії вивчали стан тканин пародонта щурів та корекцію виявлених патологічних змін Кокарнітом. Експерименти проводили на 38 білих нелінійних щурах обох статей масою 180-220 г. Алкоголізацію щурів здійснювали за такою схемою: тваринам протягом 72 днів вводили ендогастрально етанол різної концентрації за допомогою зонду 1-24 дні -11,8%; 25-48 -23,6%; 49-72 дні -37%. Після підтвердження розвитку полінейропатії на 72й день експерименту вводили Кокарніт (World Medicine) внутрішньом'язово протягом 9 днів з розрахунку 1мг/кг розчинений у 0,5% лідокаїну гідрохлориду. У м'яких тканини пародонта щурів визначали вміст вільної фукози, глікозаміногліканів, загальну протеолітичну активність, загальну антитриптичну активність, вміст ТБК-активних продуктів, вміст окисно-модифікованих білків та активність каталази.Встановлено, що алкоголізація щурів спричиняла зростання у тканинах пародонта тварин вмісту ТБК-активних продуктів, окисно-модифікованих білків та активності каталази, що свідчить про активацію вільнорадикальних процесів та розвиток карбонільно-оксидативного стресу. Одночасно в тканинах пародонта зменшувалася загальна протеолітична активність на тлі зниження активності інгібіторів протеїназ, що порушувало ремоделювання естрацелюлярного матриксу сполучної тканини. За цих умов спостерігалася підвищена деполімеризація фукопротеїдів та протеогліканів сполучної тканини пародонта, доказом чого було зростання вмісту вільної фукози та глікозаміногліканів. Обґрунтовано, що введення Кокарніту тваринам із модельованою алкогольною нейропатією запобігає деполімеризації біополімерів позаклітинного матриксу сполучної тканини пародонта та пригнічує розвиток карбонільно-оксидативного стресу.
