An experimental set-up based on a personal computer suitable for any kind of Mössbauer scattering experiments and tested for Rayleigh scattering of Mössbauer radiation at room temperature is described. The performance of the system was tested using like scatterers two of crystals; lithium fluoride (LiF) and pyrolytic graphite (C). Unlike previous systems, this experimental set-up permits lower horizontal divergences of the incident beam and the use of lower intensity Mössbauer sources.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
