ZusammenfassungADHS ist eine häufige chronische psychiatrische Erkrankung, die sich klinisch sehr heterogen mit hoher Symptompersistenz präsentiert. Unbehandelt entwickelt bis zu 80% der Betroffenen zumindest eine weitere psychiatrische Erkrankung. Wichtig ist eine gute Diagnostik, die eine (Familien-)Anamnese, die Erhebung von Schweregrad, Frequenz und Chronizität der Symptome sowie die Auswirkungen auf die Lebensqualität und die Funktion in verschiedenen Lebensbereichen (Arbeitsplatz, häusliches und soziales Umfeld etc.) einschließt. Eine leitliniengerechte multimodale Therapie umfasst neben der Medikation auch psychosoziale und psychotherapeutische Interventionen. Zur medikamentösen Behandlung bei erwachsenen ADHS Patienten empfehlen die Leitlinien Methylphenidat als Medikament der ersten Wahl.
