The intent of this investigation was to clarify the training procedures most favorable to the rapid development of stable avoidance performance in the shuttle box, an apparatus frequently used in experiments designed to evaluate the effects of brain damage on sensory discrimination. Specifically, this study compares the learning of an auditory discrimination by both normal and brain operated animals under several training conditions differing in number of trials per daily session.
