Nasal liquorrhea is a serious problem in surgery of skull base tumors, which is associated with a high risk of purulent-septic complications. This paper presents a case of successful repair of a cerebrospinal fluid fistula with an autologous platelet gel in the postoperative period after removal of meningioma of the anterior cranial fossa base, which was accompanied by a purulent-inflammatory complication in the surgical wound area.
This paper presents the key data on the effectiveness and safety of the regional anesthesia of the scalp, also known as the scalp block, for providing perioperative analgesia for supratentorial craniotomy. The authors describe the technique and its limitations and also trace the implementation of the scalp block method into the routine practice of the largest Russian neurosurgical clinic based on personal experience, results of the own research, and analysis of literature data.
This is review article concerned to problem of acute postoperative pain in neurosurgical patients. Many ears ago it was widely accepted that wast majority of neurosurgical patients don't have any pain sensation after craniotomy. Following investigations show that it mistake. In this article we discuss new data on statistics of acute postoperative pain after intracranial and spinal neurosurgical interventions, patophysiology of acute p/o pain and various methods preventing and treatment of this pain sensation. Regional scalp block, NSAID, i/v morphine on PCA approach, transdermal therapeutic forms of fentanyl and regional analgesia in spinal neurosurgery - are most perspective directions in solving of this problem.
