Motion of AI2O3 macroparticles are experimental studied in a dusty structure. Structures form in a stratum of an argon dc glow discharge in a cylindrical tube (0 30±2 mm).
MACROPARTICLE TRACEMacroparticle movements are studied in an ordered dusty structure. The automated installation for formations and investigations of dusty structures is described in detail in [1]. Structure cross-sections are illuminated by "laser knife" technique. It is allowed to observe movements of AI2O3 (0 10-80 [xm) particles in the dusty structure by a PAL standard video camera. The size of observation area is 3.2x2.4 mm^. Structures form in a stratum of an argon dc glow discharge in a cylindrical tube (0 30±2 mm). The range of parameters of structure existence is studied earlier [2].A macroparticle motion is determined by forces, which may be external, internal and random in relation to all structure or its part. If external actions are absent (a structure is not deformed) then thermal and mechanical equilibrium exist between all macroparticles. Macroparticles location is changed and a structure is removed from the equilibrium position when the structure is being deformed. As the result, internal forces arise inside the structure. These forces aspire to get back the structure to the equilibrium position.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
