Curves have always been part geometry. Initially, there were lines and circle, then it was added to a conic section and later, with the advent of analytic geometry, they added more complex curves. Particularly in a number of lines are algebraic curves that are described by algebraic equations. Curves found application mostly in mechanics. Today algebraic curves used in engineering and in mathematics, in number theory, knot theory, computer science, criminology, etc. With the bringing to account of complex numbers became possible to consider curves in the complex plane. It has expanded the horizons of geometry and enriched their knowledge on curves, particularly on algebraic curves. Our goal is to give a geometric picture of the foci of algebraic curves clearly show the position of the foci in the plane, show how the number of foci associated with a class curve. The solution of this problem we see in the application we have developed ways to visualize imaginary images to the study of foci and focal centers of algebraic curves. This article explains the concept of the foci of algebraic curves shows the basic principle of the curve-theory and offers a method for the identification of the foci. The geometric picture of the foci is shown in a diagram, which is putted together from two tables. One table shows the real curve with her foci, the other table shows an imaginary cut of the curve, on which the isotropic line contacts the cut and under them intersects in a real point. The point is a focal point of the real curve. This project shows 16 diagrams for conic, cubes and quadrics.
Two plane algebraic curves intersect at the actual intersection points of these curves’ graphs. In addition to real intersection points, algebraic curves can also have imaginary intersection points. The total number of curves intersection points is equal to the product of their orders mn. The number of imaginary intersection points can be equal to or part of mn. The position of the actual intersection points is determined by the graphs of the curves, but the imaginary intersection points do not lie on the graphs of these curves, and their position on the plane remains unclear. This work aims to determine the geometry of imaginary intersection points, introduces into consideration the concept of imaginary complement for these algebraic curves in the intersection operation, determines the form of imaginary complements, which intersect at imaginary points. The visualization of imaginary complements clarifies the curves intersection picture, and the position of the imaginary intersection points becomes expected.
The problem for construction of straight lines, which are tangent to conics, is among the dual problems for constructing the common elements of two conics. For example, the problem for construction of a chordal straight line (a common chord for two conics) ~ the problem for construction of an intersection point for two conics’ common tangents. In this paper a new property of polar lines has been presented, constructive connection between polar lines and chordal straight lines has been indicated, and a new way for construction of two conics’ common chords has been given, taking into account the computer graphics possibilities. The construction of imaginary tangent lines to conic, traced from conic’s interior point, as well as the construction of common imaginary tangent lines to two conics, of which one lies inside another partially or thoroughly is considered. As you know, dual problems with two conics can be solved by converting them into two circles, followed by a reverse transition from the circles to the original conics. This method of solution provided some clarity in understanding the solution result. The procedure for transition from two conics to two circles then became itself the subject of research. As and when the methods for solving geometric problems is improved, the problems themselves are become more complex. When assuming the participation of imaginary images in complex geometry, it is necessary to abstract more and more. In this case, the perception of the obtained result’s geometric picture is exposed to difficulties. In this regard, the solution methods’ correctness and imaginary images’ visualization are becoming relevant. The paper’s main results have been illustrated by the example of the same pair of conics: a parabola and a circle. Other pairs of affine different conics (ellipse and hyperbola) have been considered in the paper as well in order to demonstrate the general properties of conics, appearing in investigated operations. Has been used a model of complex figures, incorporating two superimposed planes: the Euclidean plane for real figures, and the pseudo-Euclidean plane for imaginary algebraic figures and their imaginary complements.
Geometric models are considered that allow symbolic representation of imaginary points on a real Cartesian coordinate plane XY. The models are based on the fact that through every pair of imaginary conjugate points A~B with complex coordinates x = a ± jb, y = c ± jd one unique real line m passes. For the image of imaginary points, it is proposed to use the graphic symbol m{OL} consisting of the line m passing through the imaginary points, the center O of the elliptic involution σ with imaginary double points A~B on the line m, and the Laguerre point L, from which the corresponding points involutions σ are projected by an orthogonal pencil of lines. According to A.G. Hirsch, the symbol m{OL} is called the marker of imaginary conjugate points A~B. A theorem is proved that establishes a one-to-one correspondence between the real Cartesian coordinates of the points O, L of the marker, and the complex Cartesian coordinates of the pair of imaginary conjugate points represented by this marker. The proved theorem allows us to solve both the direct problem (the construction of a marker depicting these imaginary points) and the inverse problem (the determination of the Cartesian coordinates of imaginary points represented by the marker). A graphical algorithm for constructing a circle passing through a real point and through a pair of imaginary conjugate points is proposed. An example of the graph-analytical determination of the Cartesian coordinates of imaginary points of intersection of two conics that have no common real points is considered.
