Representative glycerol derivatives were employed as green solvents for selected organic transformations. In all reactions it was found that both reaction performance and product extraction yields were affected by solvent type and polarity. The solubility of the substrates in the solvent was the key step in product yield determination, while the product solubility in the reaction solvent determined the effectiveness of its extraction.
The effect of silver nanparticles on the bactericidal and fungicidal properties of natural polymers-cellulose and collagen derivatives-was investigated. It was found that the treatment of films in a silver solution leads to a change in structure: ordering and compaction of microfibres. It is shown that the new materials, having fairly high bactericidal properties to different types of microorganism, are non-toxic and risk-free to humans and the environment.
An analysis of the world market of fi lm-forming materials showed growth of their consumption in the commercial form of latex systems. An increasing demand for compositions with antimicrobial activity and prolonged action was revealed. The principles of construction of time-stable polymer-latex systems modifi ed with biologically active additives remain problems of current interest. Problems of the biocorrosion resistance of the systems themselves and of fi lms manufactured from them, and also the stability of their service characteristics with time, remain unresolved. Table 7. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
