PACS. 42.65Ky -Harmonic generation, frequency conversion.Abstract. -The DC current-voltage characteristics induced by a driving electric field with frequency Ω of a one dimensional electron channel with a tunnel barrier is calculated. Electronelectron interaction of finite-range is taken into account. For intermediate interaction strengths, the non-linear differential conductance shows cusp-like minima at bias voltages m Ω/e (m integer) that are a consequence of the finite non-zero range of the interaction but are independent of the shape of the driving electric field. However, the frequency-scaling of the photo-induced current shows a cross-over between Ω −1 and Ω −2 , and depends on the spatial shape of the driving field and the range of the interaction.Typeset using EURO-T E X
The time- and space-dependent non-linear current response to a
monochromatic ac-electric field at a tunnel barrier in a
one-dimensional interacting electron system is investigated within the
Luttinger liquid model. The current harmonics are studied and the
corresponding emitted electromagnetic powers are calculated.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
