Recherches personnelles sur deux espèces progènétiques déjà connues : Ratzia joyeuxi (E. Brumpt, 1922) et Pleurogenes medians (Olsson, 1876) Par Alice BUTTNER B. Ratzia joyeuxi (E. Brumpt, 1922) C'est en 1919, qu'E. Brumpt trouva chez des Discoglossus pictus (Otth.), du Jardin d'Essais d'Alger, des kystes sous-cutanés conte nant chacun un distome dont l'utérus était parfois rempli d'oeufs. Les discoglosses parasités furent conservés en captivité à Paris, au laboratoire de parasitologie de la Faculté de Médecine, et Brumpt constata que les distomes enkystés grandissaient en même temps que leur kyste, tandis que leurs ébauches organiques, en particulier les glandes génitales, continuaient à se développer. Les oeufs, de plus en plus nombreux et pourvus d'un miracidium, se répandaient dans le kyste, qui prenait alors une coloration bru nâtre. Au bout de quelques semaines, tous les kystes avaient une taille d'environ 1 mm. ; le distome libéré atteignait 3 à 4 mm., sa différenciation organique et son développement paraissaient ache vés. Puis, ces vers dégénéraient sur place dans leur kyste bourré d'oeufs, que l'on retrouvait disséminés dans les tissus voisins, ou bien ils en sortaient spontanément et tombaient dans le milieu exté rieur. On les voyait pendant quelques heures se mouvoir au fond de l'aquarium, puis mourir. Les métacercaires observées chez ces discoglosses devenaient toutes progénétiques. Ces renseignements ont été relevés dans les protocoles expéri mentaux d'E. Brumpt, et dans le résumé qu'en donne R.-Ph. Dollfus dans son travail de 1929 sur Ratzia parva (Stossich 1904). Dans la troisième édition de son Précis de Parasitologie (1922), Brumpt a considéré les animaux sortant de leur kyste comme des distomes adultes (1). Il leur a donné le nom d'Opisthorchis (Brachgmetra) (1) Dans la 3e edition de son Précis de Parasitologie (1922, p. 176), E. Brumpt écrit : « R.-Ph. Dollfus désigne sous le nom de « métacercaires progénétiques » les métacercaires qui continuent leur évolution dans le kyste en montrant un Ann. de Parasitoi.ooie, t. XXVI, n° 3.-1931.
En 1923, R.-Ph. Dollfus a désigné, sous le nom de « métacercaire progénétique », toute larve de trématode qui, enkystée ou non, pré sente à ce stade une activité génitale précoce avec production d'oeufs. La découverte des premières métacercaires progénétiques semble revenir à C. Th. von Siebold (1835), qui trouve, dans la muscula ture d'Astacus astacus (L.), une métacercaire déjà signalée par K. E. von Baer (1827), et dénommée par celui-ci Distoma cirrigerum. Von Siebold observe la sortie des oeufs à la base du cirre évaginé. Les métacercaires progénétiques sont surtout fréquentes chez les arthropodes (insectes, crustacés), ainsi que chez les poissons et les batraciens ; elles ont été rencontrées également quelquefois chez des mollusques.Nous avons observé, chez des têtards d'Alytes obstetricans (Laur.) et de Molge palmata (Schn.) d'Indre-et-Loire, une métacercaire pro génétique toujours enkystée, se développant dans les muscles. Nous avons pu la suivre à tous les stades, grâce à la découverte, chez un Planorbis planorbis (L.), de même provenance, de la cercaire qui la détermine. Celle-ci naît dans des sporocystes jaunâtres, monilifor mes, qui envahissent tout l'hépato-pancréas. Cette cercaire est armée et mesure en moyenne 1 mm. de long sur 250 a de large.La métacercaire est, en général, ovoïde ; nous l'avons examinée au bout de quelques heures, 3, 15, et 30 jours. La métacercaire de quelques heures possède encore son stylet. Celle de 3 jours l'a perdu et présente les dimensions suivantes : taille, 500 µ de long sur 350 µ de large ; ventouse orale, 110 µ de diamètre ; acetabulum, 95 µ-100 µ. La structure interne se distingue mal en raison de l'opacité des cellules du parenchyme. Une faible pression fait
En 1931, H. Vogel, disséquant des cobayes infestés expérimentalement avec une souche de Schistosoma monsoni, originaire de Guinée française (Tamassadou Digbo, Cercle de Gueckedou), observait chez des vers mâles, au point de soudure des ca3cums digestifs, une masse cellulaire mal définie (fig. I, 2). Quelques années plus tard, R.-M. Gordon, T.-H. Davey et H. Peaslon (1934) remarquaient à leur tour cet organe surnuméraire chez certains spécimens mâles originaires d'Afrique Occidentale (Sierra Leone). H. Vogel poursuivit ses recherches et, en 1941, puis en 1947, il publiait d'intéressantes études sur l'hermaphrodisme présenté paisa souche africaine de S. monsoni. Le phénomène n'apparaissait guère que chez des vers dont le développement s'était effectué chez des hôtes expérimentaux inhabituels, tels que le hamster d'Allemagne, le cobaye, le lapin. Il restait exceptionnel chez la souris, utilisée normalement pour la conservation de la souche. Sur des préparations fixées et colorées, achetées à Porto-Rico, R.-B. Short (1948) observait les mêmes anomalies sexuelles chez quelques exemplaires mâles de S. monsoni (pl. I, fig. 1), matériel dont il ne put malheureusement élucider l'origine géographique. En juillet 1949, E. Lagrange, effectuant des recherches chimiothérapiques avec la souche de Vogel, constatait lui aussi, dans un fort pourcentage de cas (80 p. 100), ce curieux hermaphrodisme chez des mâles ayant évolué chez le cobaye.
