У статті розкрито особливості формування медіакомпетентності майбутніх учителів початкових класів. Обґрунтовано, що формування медіакомпетентності майбутніх учителів початкових класів відбувається з урахуванням взаємозв'язку компетентностей в галузі використання комп'ютерних систем. Акцентовано увагу на можливостях сучасного медіапростору та актуальності його впровадження у процес професійної підготовки майбутніх учителів початкових класів.Визначено що формування медіакомпетентності неможливе без процесу поступової цілеспрямованої освіти, яка має бути скерована на: оволодіння знаннями у сфері психолого-педагогічних наук; ґрунтовну підготовку з інформатичної освітньої галузі, яка виступає першочерговою дисципліною для подальшого вивчення медіа; практичну підготовку майбутніх учителів для формування навичок та вмінь із метою якісного аналізу медіатекстів; створення відповідних умов для реалізації зазначених вище компонентів медіакомпетентності.Запропоновано та коротко охарактеризовано напрями роботи з майбутніми учителями початкових класів щодо формування медіакомпетентності у процесі вивчення дисципліни «Методика навчання інформатичної освітньої галузі в початковій школі», серед яких визначено такі: розвиток уміння здобувачів критично осмислювати і коригувати інформацію, отриману із різних засобів інформації, формування системи ціннісних орієнтацій здобувачів та сприяння розвитку вміння аналізувати інформацію, розуміти її зміст, правильність спрямованості на певну аудиторію; розвиток компетентності здобувачів у безпеці та у захисті комп'ютерних систем; розвиток у здобувачів навичок логічного мислення та вміння застосовувати його у своїй подальшій освітній та практичній діяльності; розкриття сутності і розвиток навичок роботи здобувачів із сучасними мережевими технологіями.
