In this paper, we use the active contour models (Snakes) for edge detection and segmentation of weld defects in radiographic images. Gradient Vector Flow snakes enhance the concave object extraction capability. However, the GVF snakes are sensitive to noise. Several new snake models were developed by combining different methods with GVF snake. Here, a multiscale GVF and B-spline model is proposed to overcome the traditionnal GVF disadventage. Experiments on synthetic and radiographic images are promoising
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
