Biji kopi hijau memiliki kandungan asam klorogenat berpotensi sebagai anti diabetes. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui efek perlindungan terhadap kerusakan pankreas mencit yang diinduksi aloksan. Hewan uji mencit sebanyak 45 ekor dibagi secara acak menjadi lima kelompok yaitu kelompok I kontrol negatif diberikan aquadest, kelompok II sebagai kontrol positif diberikan suspensi glibenklamid, kelompok III, IV dan V diberikan ekstrak air biji kopi hijau robusta, arabika dan liberika berturut-turut. Perlakuan diberikan setiap hari selama 14 hari per oral. Data dianalisis dengan ANOVA dua arah diikuti uji lanjut Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak air biji kopi hijau memberikan perbedaan yang nyata (P<0,05) terhadap skor histopatologi pankreas. Ekstrak air biji kopi hijau robusta memberikan gambaran histopatologi yang paling baik dibandingkan arabika dan liberika. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak air biji kopi hijau berpotensi sebagai pengobatan alternatif anti diabetes.

Eel (Monopterus albus) is a freshwater fish that is rich with protein, amino acids, and fatty acids, which are useful as nutrients for accelerated wound healing. The gel is a semisolid dosage form that produces a membrane on the surface of the wound that serves as a wound dressing. Other dosage forms namely membrane has a function to cover the wound and also contain nutrients that play an important rule in accelerating wound healing. The Eel was extracted by a water solvent in an autoclave at 121⁰C for 15 minutes. Eel extract was formulated in a gel and membrane dosage form. Then there are test the effectiveness of the Eel extract gel and membrane on incision wound healing using commercial preparations (gel dosage form) as positive control and without medication as the negative control. The efficacy of Eel extracts from each dosage form could be seen from rat skin that has slashed in the back section taken on days 3, 6, 9, and 12. Eel extract formulated in the membranes form provides the highest value of the tensile strength test. Gel and membrane of Eel extract have effectiveness toward the healing of incision wound in rat compared with the positive control.

Yoghurt merupakan salah satu olahan susu yang dibuat dengan fermentasi asam laktat yaitu bakteri Lactobacillus bulgaricus dan Streptococcus thermophilus.Pada penelitian ini dilakukan uji efek teratogen dari yoghurt terhadap fetus mencit putih betina (Mus musculus). Induk mencit putih betina sebanyak 20 ekor yang dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok perlakuan. Kelompok kontrol, D1, D2, dan D3 berturut-turut yaitu 0,52 gram, 1,04 gram, dan 2,08 gram yoghurt. Data hasil penelitian diolah menggunakan ANOVA Satu Arah dan uji wilayah berganda Duncan. Hasil Penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemberian yoghurt selama kehamilan dapat mempengaruhi berat badan induk mencit (P < 0,05). Pemberian yoghurt selama kehamilan tidak mempengaruhi jumlah fetus, dan berat badan fetus secara bermakna (P > 0,05). Pengamatan dengan larutan Alizarin tidak ditemukan cacat skeletal setelah dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Pengamatan dengan larutan Bouin’s ditemukan cacat visceralcleft palate fetus mencit pada kelompok yoghurt D3. Dapat disimpulkan yoghurt aman dikonsumsi pada kelompok D1 dan D2. Yoghurt berpotensi menyebabkan teratogen pada beberapa fetus pada kelompok D3

The field experiment was carried out during the two summer successive seasons of 2008 and 2009 at the Experimental Station of Desert Research Center, at Ras Sudr, South Sinai Government, on White Balady eggplant to compare between the effect of saline irrigation water at levels of 3500 and 4500 ppm, with the effect of some compound applications (Algreen and Mega pour were applied as foliar spray in concentration of 2.5 cm 3 /h. and 0.75 cm 3 /L. respectively) also, they were added as soil addition at rate of 1.5L. and 0.8L./Fed. respectively, after 3, 6 and 9 weeks from transplanting, while the Unisal was applied as soil addition before transplanting at rate of 4 L./Fed., as well as, control treatment compound. The obtained results indicated that level saline irrigation water at 3500 ppm level showed increment in growth characters when compared to 4500 ppm saline irrigation water level. The same trend was observed with yield and its components (total yield, number and weight of fruits/plant, average fruit weight, diameter and length). Also, N, P, K and chlorophyll values showed the same line of previous characters, while, Fe (in fruits), Na and Cl (in leaves) contents were increased with saline irrigation water at 4500 than 3500 ppm level. The application of the tested compounds enhanced plant growth, yield and its components, N, P, K and chlorophyll values in plant leaves than control treatment. On the other hand Na, Cl and Fe content were increased in plant leaves and Fe value in fruits were the highest in control treatment than compound treatments. The best growth characters, heaviest yield and the best characters of yield components, as well as the highest values of N, P, K and chlorophyll content and the lowest values of Fe (in fruits), Na and Cl content (in plant leaves) were recorded with saline irrigation water at level 3500 ppm and Algreen compound followed by Mega pour both applied as foliar spray.

The field experiment was carried out in the Experimental Farm of the Desert Research Center at Ras Sudr Region, South Sinai Governorate, during the two successive summer seasons of 2008 and 2009 to study the effect of the combinations among three levels of N, P, K (100%, 80% and 60% of recommended dose) with nitric or phosphoric acids individually or mixture of them to minimizing the harmful effects of salinity on growth, yield and fruit quality of sweet pepper plants. The results suggested that the effect of the highest level of N, P, K (100%) combined with mixture of nitric and phosphoric acids gave the most vigorous plants expressed as plant length, fresh and dry weight of plant and dry matter content of plant, in both seasons. Moreover, it produced the highest fruit yield and gave, the best physical properties of fruits, i.e., fruit length, weigh and number of fruits/plant, as well as the best values of total chlorophyll, vitamin C, N, P, K of leaves tissues. On the other hand, it decreased Na and Cl concentrations.

Local white mice were used to evaluate the toxic and teratogenic effects of various dose levels 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 mg/kg body weight of Bergapten on fetuses and pups of pregnant females. The oral administration of the different dose levels of Bergapten on days 6-15 of gestation has not produced any toxic condition and morphological or skeletal changes in fetuses of mice.
