Fire safety and security system in high-rise buildings has been a significant issue from the last century. However, there are numerous provisions for safety measures from such fires and the magnitude and nature of the problem of this hazard has been unknown. This study identifies the location of high-rise buildings in Tangail pourashava through an extensive survey and then identifies the unique fire safety problems of those buildings and their associated fire risk. As it turns out, most of those buildings are highly vulnerable to fire risk due to lack of major fire fighting equipments and defiance of related laws and regulations. The study then addresses the means to provide fire safety in those buildings from both design and codes perspectives. It elaborates on the need to provide both building and occupant based protection to achieve the best results. It concludes with an overview of the special problems associated with high-rise buildings combined with specific use and occupancy-related requirements, employee training and response.
Creative industries were intensified in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era. The contribution of the creative industries can sustain the economic community. Indonesia has many creative products, one of which is the batik industry. Many Indonesian batik industries are MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) which do not yet have adequate packaging, even improvised. Direct packaging also promotes and image of the batik industry. Batik product packaging also has not considered the sustainability of environmentally friendly products. This paper uses a research and development method, in the form of packaging creation for batik packaging for MSME products.Batik product packaging is also demanded to be environmentally responsible. The findings of this paper are: good packaging, environmentally friendly, is a form of responsibility and is able to provide added value to the Indonesian batik industry. The packaging must be well designed, aesthetically, informative, but also sustainable.
Today, most of the cities in the world encounter the phenomenon of high rise building. The growth of high rise building in Tangail pourashava has been considerably increased since the last few years. Though high-rise buildings helped in solving the problem of shortage of land and housing, it also caused many problems in different environmental, structural, spatial, functional, socioeconomical, and demographic aspects of the city. Our study was to identify the location of high-rise buildings, to classify these buildings by their uses and to investigate the Structural and functional characteristics of high-rise buildings in Tangail Pourashava. For the study both primary and secondary data were collected, primary data has been collected from field survey and secondary data has been collected from different journals and published and unpublished publications. The study also focused on the existing high-rise buildings safety and security system available in those buildings and made recommendation that the buildings should follow the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) guidance strictly to ensure all safety aspects.
