Abstract

This study aims to identify where the disaster survivors come from and where they move after the disaster. A questionnaire survey of all households in Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture was conducted, and the following three points were obtained.1) The decrease in Densely Inhabited District (DID) in the city is larger than in other tsunami-impacted areas.2) Widespread relocation: Relocation from the former site of 109 chou (small-areas) to 164 chou is observed despite the reconstruction project implementation site of 62 chou.3) Newcomers from outside the city who were not U-turns selected their homes in the L2 inundation area.
