Abstract:Double-skinneDSiding (DS) and its buffer zone on thermal environments of both new and old wooden structures found throughout Japan is examined herein. Our simulation shows electricity usage drops 20% during the summer with DS. During the winter, DS helps raise the room temperature by almost 5 C.
