Abstract

Hodgkin lymphoma is one of the most common childhood malignancies, making 40% of all lymphomas, which may clinically manifest with painless adenopathy, fever (above 38.0°C), unexplained weight loss (10% of body weight within the 6 months preceding diagnosis), and night sweats. Proximately 90% to 95% of children with Hodgkin lymphoma can be cured. Contemporary treatment programmes use a risk-based and response-adapted approach in which patients receive multiagent chemotherapy, with or without radiation therapy. Prognostic factors used to determine chemotherapy intensity include cancer stage, presence or absence of B symptoms, bulky disease, extranodal involvement, erythrocyte sedimentation rate.
