Abstract:This paper considers Scriabin’s Prelude op. 74 no. 1 in a new light. Starting from studies on the relation between music and mathematics, it shows how harmonic functions in tonal language can be represented graphically using geometric figures. It then goes deeper into the prelude. The harmonies of the piece are taken into consideration: they are made up of several types of six-note chords.
