СЕПТИНОВЫЕ КОМПЛЕКСЫ И?ДИНАМИКА ЦИТОСКЕЛЕТА, "Молекулярная Биология"

Abstract: Septins belong to a family of conserved GTP-binding proteins found in majority of eukaryotic species except for higher plants. Septins form nonpolar complexes that further polymerize into filaments and associate with cell membranes, thus comprising newly acknowledged cytoskeletal system. Septins participate in a variety of cell processes and contribute to various pathophysiological states, including tumorigenesis and neurodegeneration. Here, we review the structural and functional properties of septins and the… Show more

“…SEPT8 contributes to kidney and liver fibrosis, and modulates the generation of toxic amyloid-beta peptides in Alzheimer's disease 32 , 33 . Given that SEPT8 functions in various biological processes of cell cytokinesis and migration, it may be another novel target for ACO 34 . Interestingly, using the BiosQTL database ( https://genenetwork.nl/biosqtlbrowser/ ), there is evidence that the effect of the SEPT8 CpG site (cg13334727) methylation on whole blood may be genetically regulated by the cis-methylation quantitative trait loci (meQTL), rs39855.…”

“…C. elegans septins form a non-polar heterotetramer composed of UNC-59 at the ends and UNC-61 in the middle (John et al, 2007;Nishihama et al, 2011). Septins are thus candidates for crosslinking actin-based structures and for scaffolding formin-generated F-actin at the membrane (Akhmetova et al, 2018;Breitsprecher & Goode, 2013;Buttery et al, 2012;Gao et al, 2010). The roles of septins in cortical rotation have been examined in highly compressed C. elegans zygotes that are sensitized to fail cytokinesis, and in which the integrity of longitudinal (anterior-posterior) myosin bundles is implicated in rotation (Singh et al, 2019).…”
