Abstract:<p>Plasmon-assisted transformations of organic compounds
represent a novel opportunity for conversion of light to chemical energy at
room temperature. Herein, we propose a comprehensive investigation of
plasmon-triggered decomposition of iodonium salts containing various
substituents (ISs). We found that plasmon interaction with unsymmetrical ISs
led to the intramolecular excitation of electron followed by the regioselective
cleavage of C–I bond with the formation of electron-rich radical species. Such

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
