Abstract

In the era of information culture, social mobility and multivariate vectors of self-development, every person faces the problems of conscious career choice that corresponds to personal values. An important aspect in building a career is career orientation. When planning his professional future, a person first starts from a certain hierarchy of «career anchors» -career orientations presented in his mind. They act as an internal source of a person's career goals, expressing what is most important to him and has personal meaning in professional activity. The system of career orientations, thus, determines the ways for self-development and personal growth, including at the same time the direction and methods of their implementation. Career orientations do not have the certainty that is characteristic of properly formed career goals and plans. Thanks to this, they perform a more flexible regulatory function, and therefore, can and should be investigated.The study of career orientations of students of higher educational institutions is particularly important, because it is during this period that a person plans his professional future, realizes the correctness of the choice made. They represent a valuable component in the structure of a professional career, meaningfully defining the scenarios of self-development, personal and professional growth, including their direction and methods of implementation.
