Ξ− and bayron production in Au+Au collisions at GeV

Abstract: We report preliminary results on the centrality dependence of the Ξ − and Ξ + production at mid-rapidity in √ s NN = 130 GeV Au+Au collisions from the STAR experiment. For the most central data the obtained yields suggest a saturation of strangeness production per produced hadron. The calculated inverse slope parameter may indicate an earlier freeze-out of these particles.

“…To visualize the effects of transverse flow on the spectral shape thus requires plotting the spectrum logarithmically as a function of m T or m T −m 0 . Such plots [168][169][170][171] show a clear tendency of the heavier hadron spectra to curve and to begin to develop a shoulder at low transverse kinetic energy m T −m 0 , as expected from transverse flow. One such example is shown in Fig.…”

“…In figure 1 the NA57 yields of hyperons from central Pb-Pb interactions at 40 and 158 A GeV/c are presented and compared with those obtained by the STAR collaboration in √ s NN = 130 GeV Au-Au collisions at RHIC [ 8,9,10]. In order to compare data close in centrality with those of STAR (5%, 10% and 11% most central collisions for Λ, Ξ and Ω) we have selected NA57 data for 5% most central events for Λ and 11% most central events for Ξ and Ω.…”
