β-FeOOH/TiO2/cellulose nanocomposite aerogel as a novel heterogeneous photocatalyst for highly efficient photo-Fenton degradation

Abstract: This work provides a novel strategy for the preparation of an efficient green heterogeneous catalyst by using renewable resources, and the β-FeOOH/TiO2/cellulose nanocomposite aerogel has great potential for application in wastewater treatment.

“…Fe-based catalysts, such as Fe 2 O 3 , Fe 3 O 4 , and β-FeOOH, are semiconductors that exhibit narrow band gaps, respond strongly to visible light, and can remove contaminants effectively. 11–13 In addition, hierarchical porous materials were reported to be potential excellent light harvesters for photocatalysis. Their macro channels were beneficial to the deep penetration, capture, and scattering of light and improved the accessibility of dye molecules to the catalyst's active sites.…”
