“…Conversely, other studies failed to demonstrate the neurotoxic effects of A/β in vivo (Joseph et al, 2001; Rottkamp et al, 2002). Separate injections into the hippocampus of beta amyloid 25–35 or the incubated form of beta amyloid 25–35 alone failed to significantly affect maze acquisition in the rat (Dornan et al, 1993; Sigurdsson et al, 1995). Bilateral injections of amyloid 25–35 into the amygdala of young Fischer rats can induce neuronal tau‐2 staining in the right, but not the left amygdala and hippocampus (Sigurdsson et al, 1997).…”

“…After 4 weeks, the rats were euthanized by decapitation, brains were rapidly excised, hippocampi were dissected out on ice and placed in chilled NaCl solution (0.9%). [22] The hippocampi were then homogenized using a Teflon–glass homogenizer in freshly prepared 10% trichloroacetic acid (1:5 w/v) in ice cold conditions. The homogenates were centrifuged at 4°C (8000 × g ; 10 min) and the supernatant was collected and immediately used for the estimation of Ach by the fluorimetric method.…”
