“…The structrure of sporol, a sesquiterpene isolated from Fusarium sporotrichioides MC 72083, has been revised to (25).43 An X-ray diffraction analysis has been used to determine the structure of sambucinic acid (26), a trichothecene with a modified structure, which has been obtained from the fungus Fusarium ~ambucinum.~~ Some flavonoids and furanocoumarins inhibit the biosynthesis of the trichothecene toxin T-2 in liquid cultures of Fusarium sporotrichioides, this lead to the accumulation of the hydrocarbon trichodiene, the precursor of the trich~thecenes.~~ The C-8 propionate, isobutyrate, and butyrate of neosolaniol have been identified in liquid cultures of F. sporotrichioides DAOM 165006. 46 The biosynthesis of the trichodiene sesquiterpene and the role of nerolidyl pyrophosphate in the enzymatic cyclization of farnesyl pyrophosphate have been st~died.~' Two sesquiterpenes ( 27) and (28) with a cuparane and gymnomitrane skeleton, respectively, have been isolated from the liverwort Reboulia herni~phaerica.~~ Three gymnomitrane derivatives ( 29)-(3 1) have been obtained from another liverwort, Plagiochila trabenilata.…”
