Abstract:1. The effect of alpha-adrenergic stimulation, with phenylephrine, on isoprenaline-provoked renin secretion was studied in the isolated perfused rat kidney. 2. Infusion of phenylephrine increased renal perfusion pressure and prevented renin secretion in response to isoprenaline. 3. Renal vasoconstriction was abolished and the response in renin secretion to isoprenaline was restored by alpha-adrenoreceptor blockade with phenoxybenzamine. 4. In contrast, when renal vasoconstriction was prevented by dihydrallazin… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
