Zusammenhänge zwischen metabolischem Syndrom, Depression, Stress und körperlicher Aktivität

Abstract: On the one hand, physical activity has positive effects on all elements of MTS, especially insulin resistance, on the other hand, mild antidepressant effects of physical activity have been demonstrated. The results of animal experiments refer to the essential relevance of physical activity concerning "brain health", specifically with respect to hippocampal neuroplasticity.

“…According to previous studies, relationships between physical activity, stress, and metabolic syndrome have received limited attention 30) . Few studies have shown inconsistent results concerning the relationship of physical activity to metabolic syndrome or both stress and metabolic syndrome [30][31][32][33] . The mechanism behind the inconsistency of effects is not clear with differences in population used in the studies as well as the frequency or intensity of the physical activity may have affected the results.…”

“…Further, other studies have found that exercise-induced adaptation within 3 or 4 months (short-term) is a stressor factor or that cardiorespiratory fitness increases the magnitude of stress to psychosocial stressors 29,44) . At the same time, a growing body of study has demonstrated the effects of exercise on metabolic syndrome 27,28,[30][31][32][33] . One study has shown that Industrial Health 2013, 51, 336-346 physical activity intervention reduced the harmful effects of high blood cholesterol level, high blood pressure, and obesity 28) .…”

“…For leisure activities, the purpose was to make friends outside the job and to extend their social life. Like physical activity, leisure type does not seem to be decisive for effectiveness as long as the intention of making friends and having a social life is fulfilled [ 48 , 49 ].…”

“…In diversen epidemiologischen Studien wurde eine erhöhte Prävalenz depressiver Störungen bei Diabetikern aufgezeigt [5][6][7]. Das Risiko als Diabetiker unter einer Depression zu leiden war fast doppelt so hoch wie bei (vergleichbaren) nicht an Diabetes erkrankten Personen [5,8,9].…”
